From The How Not to Age Cookbook

Ingredients

  • broccoli florets
  • frozen green peas
  • avocado
  • red onion
  • white miso paste
  • lemon or lime juice
  • jalapeno
  • cilantro

Instructions

  1. Steam the broccoli and peas in a metal steamer basket over an inch (2.5cm) or so of boiling water in a covered saucepan or pot until tender, 6 to 8 minutes.
  2. Run cold water over the vegetables to stop the cooking process.
  3. Drain well and set aside until completely cool.
  4. Transfer the cooled vegetables to a food processor and puree until smooth.
  5. Halve and pit the avocado.
  6. In the food processor, add the avocado flesh, red onion, miso paste, and lemon juice to the pureed vegetables.
  7. If you like a little texture in your guacamole, pulse the mixture just to combine; otherwise, process until smooth and well blended.
  8. Taste to adjust the seasonings.
  9. Transfer to a serving bowl, mix in the jalapeño (if using), and sprinkle the top with cilantro (if using).
  10. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate until ready to enjoy.
  11. This dip is best when eaten on the same day it is made.
