Grilled Portobello Burgers with the Works
Charred portobello mushroom burgers. Makes 4 servings.

Ingredients
- portobello mushroom caps
- red onion slices
- Umami Sauce 2.0
- whole-grain burger buns
- lettuce
- tomato
- jalapeno
- Cheesy Sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C).
- On a parchment paper–lined baking sheet, arrange the mushroom caps and red onion slices in a single layer.
- Drizzle with Umami Sauce 2.0 and bake until browned on both sides, turning once, about 12 minutes per side.
- Transfer the mushrooms and onion to a plate, and place the burger buns under the broiler, cut side up, until lightly toasted, about 5 minutes.
- Watch carefully so they don’t burn.
- To serve, arrange a lettuce leaf and a tomato slice on the bottom half of each bun, then top each with a mushroom cap, two onion slices, and some jalapeño slices (if using).
- Drizzle with the Cheesy Sauce (if using) and cover with the top half of the bun.
- Serve hot.
