Coffee Granita

A frozen, granular coffee dessert sweetened with date syrup.

Ingredients

  • date syrup 2.0
  • strong brewed coffee

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the Date Syrup 2.0 and ⅓ cup (80ml) of water, and bring to a boil.
  2. Lower the heat to medium and cook, stirring, to blend well.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and set it aside to cool.
  4. Stir in the coffee, then pour the mixture into a shallow baking dish.
  5. Cover and freeze for several hours, or until firm, stirring about once per hour.
  6. When firm, remove the granita from the freezer.
  7. Scrape it with the tines of a fork until it is broken up.
  8. Spoon the granita into a container, cover, and freeze until serving time.
  9. Serve in small bowls.
  10. For the best taste and texture, enjoy it within a few hours after it is made.
